Vandenberg AFB  to the Marshall Islands.

ミニッツマン�V発射に抗議を。

When: The protest will begin at 11.55pm November 17 (midnight)
Where: Front gate of Vandenberg AFB across the road from
Vandenberg Middle school, six miles north of Lompoc
on Highway One Santa Barbara County California USA.

  Ｔhe US has been highly critical of other countries conducting missile tests. 
　By conducting such tests itself, the US demonstrates exactly the wrong
　standard for the rest of the world.  Missile tests are a tangible demonstration
　of power meant to intimidate potential foes.  Such tests, however, often
　have the opposite effect and provoke similar responses from other states.

　米国は他の諸国がミサイル実験を行うことにはこれまで大変批判的である。
　自分がそのような実験を行なうことで、米国はまさに悪い基準を世界に示している。
　ミサイル発射テストは、仮想敵を威嚇することを意図し、自分の戦力を敵に
　はっきりとみえるように誇示するものである。しかし、このような実験は逆効果
　となり、他国からの同様の反応を挑発することがよくある。

Three people were arrested on November 4 during the monthly peace vigil 　　　　　　　　　　at Vandenberg AFB main gate.  Dennis Apel again was cited for a “ban and bar”
violation. Two other vigilers in the designated protest area were arrested
for not identifying themselves with ID.  One, Bud Booth, 84 year old veteran
of WWII Army Air Corps, and a long-time peace activist at Vandenberg,
was placed in metal handcuffs and while being searched was grabbed
at the center part of the handcuffs and swung around, tearing his shirt
and skin on his arm. Paramedics were summoned to administer first aid.Send

逮捕された。デニス・アペルの逮捕理由はまた、「立ち入り禁止」違反だった。指定された
抗議のため場所で監視していたのに逮捕された他の二人の逮捕理由は、ＩＤが一致しない
ということであった。そのうちのひとりバッド・ブースは、第２次世界大戦時の陸軍航空隊員
であった現在８４歳の元軍人でヴァンデンブルグで長らく平和運動をしている活動家だが、
金属製の手錠をかけられ、身体検査をされている間に手錠の中ほどをつかまれ振り回されたため、
シャツが破れ腕の皮膚が切れた。衛生兵が呼ばれ応急処置がほどこされた。
