Solidarity Message to Jeju from Henoko, Okinawa
辺野古からJejuへの連帯メッセージ
I’d like to send from the tent-village in Henoko, Okinawa,my heartfelt
solidarity message to all the people on Jeju who are fully committed to
opposing and preventing the construction of the planned naval vase there.
韓国の海軍基地建設反対・阻止運動に全力を傾けている済州島のみなさんへ、連帯のメッセージを送ります。
Peace cannot be created out of forces. This is the eternal theme in our
efforts to create peace. I regard the presence of the US forces in South
Korea one major obstacle to you desired peaceful reunification on Korean
Peninsula.
武力から平和は創造できません。これは平和創造の永遠の命題です。 在韓米軍の存在が朝鮮半島の平和的統一を阻害する大きな要因だと判断します。
Here in Okinawa as well, US Marines are dispatched to Iraq and Afghanistan
for engaging in killing innocent people there.
この沖縄でも、イラク、アフガン戦争へ在沖海兵隊が出動し、イラク、アフガン市民の殺戮に従事しています。
Hatoyama, our recent-resigned prime minister, had given us his words during his election campaign that ‘ the planned alternative base will be at least outside of Okinawa ,’ for Futenma Base is, as our government admits, the most dangerous US base in the world. However, he finally betrayed our wish and will and imposed the current Henoko Plan, choosing to be a loyal servant to the US administration. The furor among us Okinawans drove him to resign irresponsibly.
日米政府も認める世界で最も危険な普天間基地を鳩山（民主党）首相は「最低でも沖縄県外移設」と選挙公約しましたが、沖縄の民意を裏切り、アメリカ政府の従僕となって辺野古（沖縄）現行案を押しつけました。そして沖縄県民の怒りによって無責任にも辞任しました。
The newly succeeding Kan Cabinet has re-appointed Okada as Minister of
Foreign Affairs, who had been involved in a coordinated scheme of the revival
of the once-abandoned Henoko Plan. We will never forgive such betrayals
by these politicians. We will never forgive the Kan Cabinet, which is to
implement ‘ discrimination against Okinawa ‘ and impose on us ‘ co-existence
of the US bases’ on our sovereign land.
次の菅内閣も、５月28日の「日米合意」の継承を大前提に、辺野古回帰を策動した岡田外相らを再任しました。絶対に許せません。 沖縄は「沖縄差別」を遂行し、「米軍基地との共存・共生」を押しつける、菅政権を絶対に許しません。
We will cut open our way to the future of Okinawa by ourselves. Let’s take
a strong stand together against both the governments of South Korea and
Japan, both of whom comply with the US warmonger policy for Asia, and let’s
create peace in Asia with the consolidated power of Asian people.
沖縄の将来は私たち自身の運動で切り拓きます。アメリカ政府のアジアにおける戦争政策に追随する日本・韓国の政府と対峙し、アジアの平和をアジア民衆の力で築きましょう！

東京からJeju への連帯メッセージ
We are citizens in Japan who have been against the Missile Defense System since its introduction into Japan in 2003.
私たちはミサイル防衛の導入時より、それに反対している市民です。
We pledge our words on this occasion that we will get your peace–seeking
efforts on Jeju known widely to Japanese citizens, while we ourselves seek
for peace and disarmament of Japan, beginning with urging the withdrawal
of US Marines from Okinawa.
済州の皆さんの取り組みを日本にも伝えながら、私たち自身も、沖縄からの米海兵隊の撤退をはじめとする日本の軍縮を求めていきます。
Let’s combine our efforts so that we can finally put an end to the arms
race in Northeastern Asia and change the waters of the Cold War into peaceful
seas.
北東アジアにおける軍拡競争に終止符を打ち、冷戦の海を平和の海へと変えていきましょう。

* The nation-wide opposition movement to the automatic passage of US-Japan
Security Treaty in '60. 330,000 people seiged the Diet building. This
passage has cemented the prolonged presence of US forces in Japan. This
movement involved a wide range of people―students and achademics in universities,
laborers, public as well as private sector employees, house-wives, political
leftist-parties, some Japanese right-wingers, and Korean residents in Japan.
60年安保国会成立への全国的反対 33万人が国会包囲 これにより米軍の長期日本駐留がかたまった. この運動には、大学の学生、学者、労働者、民間企業人だけでなく公務員、主婦、左翼政党、日本の右翼、朝鮮半島出身者など、幅広い人々が参加した.

Above all, I express my heartfelt respect and congratulate the people in
Okinawa and in the world for the painstaking efforts, who have been continuing
the opposition movements representing all the life living in the sea and
ground, against the expansion of the military bases for long time.
私は何よりもまず、心からの敬意を表明しつつ、長年軍事基地の拡張に反対して海洋と地上のあらゆる命を代表して抗議運動を継続されている沖縄と世界の人々に対し、労苦を伴うその活動に祝福を述べます。
We, Gangjeong villagers, having fought against the naval base construction
business under the coercive government oppression for three years, are
keenly aware how hard it is and how many efforts are needed for such struggle.
私たち、Gangjeong村民は、３年間強制的な政府が行う抑圧の下で、海軍基地建設計画に反対して闘いつづけている現在、そのような闘争がどれほど大変なものであり、そのためには多くの努力が必要であるという認識を強くしています。
The last 20th century was the history of innumerable conflicts of antagonism
and blood , wrapped in the ideologies. There were the 1st and 2nd World
Wars; communism and market capitalism confronted with each other; suppression
and coercion by the dictatorships were prevalent; by inducing the competition
of the unlimited military cost, the military industrial capital occupied
the basis of the industrial structure with the abnormal size; The world
was caught up with the smothering cold war and endlessly exhausting local
warfare; therefore it can be said that it was the era that the world dreamt
by the peace-craving people had become too far.
前20世紀は、イデオロギーに包まれ、敵意と流血の無数の紛争の歴史となりました。第一次大戦と、第二次大戦が起こりました。共産主義と市場資本主義が互いに対立しました。独裁体制により抑圧と強要がはびこっていました。無制限に軍事費を掛け合う軍拡競争を誘発することで、軍産複合体資本が、産業構造の根幹を異常なまでの規模で占有しました。世界は窒息させるような冷戦と終わりがないほどに疲弊させる局地戦に巻き込まれました。それゆえ、前世紀は、平和を渇望する人々が夢見る世界があまりに遠のいた時代であったと言えます。
However, as 10 years have passed so far, since the turn of
the century, the Earth is earnestly asking the human being its ability of peace
and co-existence.
しかしながら、世紀の変わり目より10年が過ぎた今、地球は真剣に人間に対して、平和と共存へのその能力を問いかけています。
With environmental contamination, global warming, energy exhaustion, water
shortage and food crisis, human beings are being pushed into the crisis
in which the future can be less guaranteed than in any other time.
環境汚染、温暖化、エネルギーの消耗、水不足、食糧危機により、人類はこれまでのどんな時代よりも未来の保証が少ない危機に追いこまれています
For human being to overcome the crisis, to co-exist with one
another, the best and highest way that they can take is reciprocity and
co-operation based on the concept of peace.
人類がこの危機を克服するために、互いと共存するために、我々が取る最善で最高の方法は、平和の概念に基づく、相互依存と協力関係です。
The size of the military power should never be the standard for a few powerful
nations. A nation that understands the counterpart, respects the positions
of the both sides, reaches one’s hand first to the other sides for the
cooperation for co-existence is qualified for the leader of the world.
軍事力の規模が数カ国の超大国にとっての基準となるようなことがあってはなりません。対抗する国を理解し、互いの地位を尊重し、まず相手側に共存のための協力に向けて手をさしのべる国が、世界のリーダーの資格を持ちます。
We are not anti-U. S. A. We are crying with our just voice against the nations that go against the co-existence
of human beings; the nations that drag more resources into themselves using
military power; the nations that pursue only their interests by bringing
up the inequality; the nations that are to industrialize the war in the
other countries; the governments that do not prioritize the public welfare
but think only of the regime maintenance; the governments of the developmentalism
that only produce the environmental destruction.
我々はアメリカに敵対しているのではありません。我々は人類の共存に反することをする諸国に対し、正義の声で叫んでいます。軍事力を用いて、より多くの資源を自分たちの国に引き込もうとする諸国、不平等を生じさせることで自分たちの利益のみを追求する諸国、他国において戦争を産業化するつもりでいる諸国、社会福祉を優先せず、体制維持だけを考える政権、環境破壊を生むだけの開発主義政策を採る政権に対してです。
If we cannot make just voice to those powers, how can we
talk to our children about peace and friendship with their friends? If we cannot, does it mean that we should teach our children the way of
life to rob the powerless of their resources, to survive in this unequal
world that adults have made?
もし我々がそれらの巨大な力を持つ諸国に対して正義の声をあげられなければ、我々は自分の子供に向かってどうやったら、他の子供たちと争わずに仲良くしなさいと話しきかせることができるでしょう。もし我々が声をあげられなければ、我々は子供たちに、無力な者からその資源を奪う生き方や、大人が作った不平等な世界を生き残る生き方を教えるべきだとでもいうことになるのでしょうか？
I believe that since our voice is truly just, the people in the world will
be together with us in time.
私は我々の声はまさしく正義であるので、世界の人々がいずれ私たちの闘いに加わるだろうと信じます。
To save the precious Earth and to be the human beings for one, the Gangjeong
village will be with all of you in Okinawa and in the rest of the world.
貴重な地球を守り、1つに連帯する人間となるため、今後Gangjeong村は沖縄と世界の他の人々すべてと共にあります。
