みなさんへ

　福岡県の航空自衛隊築城基地正門近くで毎月「２の日」に座り込みをしている渡辺ひろ子さん（平和といのち
　をみつめる会）や梶原得三郎さん（草の根の会、大分県中津市）などが呼びかけて、九州北部で活動する市民運動

　２月１５日、いくつかのメディアが普天間問題に関し、社民党が１７日の沖縄基地問題検討委員会に提示しよう
　としている内容について発信しました。

　On Feb.15th, some media released part of a suggestion the Social Democratic Party is
　going to make to the Committee for Discussing the relocation issue of Okinawa US base.

　それによれば、社民党は海自大村航空基地や佐賀空港などを念頭に、九州北部への移転を考えているとのことです。
　米領グアムなども移転先の候補としてあげるようですが、私たちはそれを知って驚き、失望と怒りを禁じ得ません。

　Allegedly, your party is considering the possibility of relocating it to the northern part of
　Kyusyu, with MSDF Ohura Air Base or Saga Air Port and so on as candidates for that.

　社民党がなぜそんなことをするのでしょうか。宜野湾市民の耐え難い苦難を別のどこかに押し付けて、それで何が
　解決するというのでしょうか。政権の一角にあって普天間基地の移転先を探すありようは、社民党が反戦平和を
　願う私たちから遠く離れて 、米政権に追随することを決めたかのように見えます。

　Why is the Social Democratic Party doing that? 　Even if you try to relocate, with the US base,
　the unbearable sufferings those citizens in the City of Ginowan have shouldered so far to another
　place, what kind of issue can be solved? 　To our eyes, your present stance, as a coalition partner
　in the cabinet, to be looking for a place good for its relocation, can be seen as if your party has
　decided to follow the US government, distancing yourself from us who have wished for no war and for
　peace hand in hand with you for long.

　普天間問題の真の解決は基地撤去の外にあり得ません。社民党にはそのことを忘れないでいただきたいと思います。
　民主党や国民新党に歩調を合わせて米政権の意向に応えることをやめて、基地機能の大幅縮小を強く求めつつ、
　可能な限り早期に撤去させるべきです。困難ではあっても、それに向けて力を注ぐ政党であってほしいものです。

　The only genuine solution to this issue is the permanent closure of the base. We want you not to
　forget that.　The Social Democratic Party should stop complying as you are now , along with the
　Democratic Party and The People's　New Party, to the US’demands, but contrary to that, should urge
　the US government,　first by demanding drastic reductions of the functions of its base, to close it
　and withdraw its forces as soon as possible,

　一、私たちは普天間基地の国内移転など断じて認めるわけにはいきません。
　　　　
　　　We can never consent to the relocation of US Futenma Base inside Japan.

　二、社民党は国の内外を問わず、普天間基地の移転先を探すようなことをすべきではありません。

　　　Whether internally or abroad, you should not look for a candidate for
　　　the relocation of the US Futenma Base.

　三、２月１７日の沖縄基地問題検討委員会に移転先案を提示するようなことを絶対にしないでください。

　　　Never conduct such a deed as to suggest to the above committee on Feb.17th your idea
　　　of possible　alternative places for the relocation.

　四、身近に基地や軍隊が存在すれば、私たちの危険は増すばかりです。一つずつ撤去していって下さい。
　　　社民党はそうした仕事をする政党であって下さい。

　　　We are only under increasing danger with the presence of military bases and military forces,
　　　never getting free from them. 　So we want you to eliminate them one by one. We want you to
　　　be a political party committed to such peace work.
