Aug.6th▼ Miyotaro, Father, then a ceramic wholesaler, who was exposed to A
bomb at home, 2.3km GZ, had trouble walking, so Tatsu, Mother, went out to look
for her but could not find her remains.
Sumio, the elder brother, who got demobilized in Marshall Islands ( currently
Republic of Marshall Islands) and came back home in Oct. that year, says,
“ I got active-duty enrollment in First Western Force, Hiroshima in January,
1942, then, finishing Military Accounting School, I got transferred to
the 122th Infantry Regiment, then dispatched to the Philippines in Aug,
the same year. Since then, I lost contact
with my family, so I had no knowledge about her entrance into HiroshimaMunicipal Women's Junior High School.
After the logistic support was cut off by hostile countries over there
at war front, I was in the hell-like state of Japanese soldiers fighting and
killing each other over just one piece of dog biscuit. So when I came back home in Japan, I felt
nothing even when I heard that my sister had perished. Frankly, at that time I had no such feeling
natural to human beings as sorrow or loneliness.”
